China visa free countries now include 50 nations whose ordinary passport holders can enter for up to 30 days without applying for a visa — plus a separate 240-hour transit scheme covering 55 nationalities through 65 ports across 24 provinces. The 50 China Visa Free Countries — Full 2026 List

As of the February 17, 2026 National Immigration Administration compilation, these china visa free countries grant ordinary passport holders up to 30 days of visa-free entry for business, tourism, family visits, exchange, and transit. The policy for 48 of these countries runs through December 31, 2026; Brunei has no expiration; Russia runs through September 14, 2026.

Europe (35 countries)

France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal, Greece, Cyprus, Slovenia, Slovakia, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Andorra, Monaco, Liechtenstein, Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Malta, Estonia, Latvia, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and Russia.

That means a traveler from Paris can fly Air France direct to Beijing (PEK) or Shanghai (PVG) with no visa. A German from Frankfurt or Munich boards Lufthansa and walks into China with just a passport. British travelers from London Heathrow enjoy the same — no embassy visit, no application fee, no waiting.

Asia (7 countries)

Brunei, Japan, South Korea (Republic of Korea), Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, and Bahrain.

Travelers from Tokyo and Seoul can hop on short flights to Beijing, Shanghai, or Qingdao and enter visa-free. Gulf travelers from Riyadh, Muscat, and Manama can also enter without a visa for up to 30 days.

Americas (6 countries)

Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Uruguay, and Canada.

Canadian passport holders can enter visa-free — a major change that simplifies trips from Toronto and Vancouver. Travelers from São Paulo, Buenos Aires, and Santiago also qualify, opening China to South American tourists without the old visa hassle.

Oceania (2 countries)

Australia and New Zealand.

Australians from Sydney, Melbourne, or Brisbane and New Zealanders from Auckland can fly direct to Beijing, Shanghai, or Guangzhou with no visa application. Qantas and Air New Zealand routes make the trip straightforward.

What 30-Day Visa-Free Entry Lets You Do

Under the unilateral policy, visa-free travelers may engage in tourism, business meetings, family visits, cultural exchanges, and transit. You cannot work, study long-term, or conduct journalism — those require proper visas.

• Tourism: Visit the Great Wall at Mutianyu, the Terracotta Warriors in Xi'an, Shanghai's Bund, Guilin's Li River, and Chengdu's panda bases.
• Business: Attend trade fairs in Guangzhou, factory visits in Shenzhen, or meetings in Shanghai.
• Family visits: Visit relatives without applying for a Q visa.
• Transit: Stop in China on your way to a third country — but if your only goal is transit, the 240-hour scheme may be simpler.

Passport validity: Six months beyond your planned stay is recommended. Return ticket: Immigration officers may ask for proof of onward or return travel. Port of entry: Any international port open to foreign passport holders — no special port restriction for unilateral visa-free entry.

240-Hour Visa-Free Transit: 55 Countries, 65 Ports, 24 Provinces

If your country is not on the 50-country unilateral list — most notably the United States — you may still qualify for the 240-hour (10-day) visa-free transit scheme. This policy covers 55 nationalities transiting through China to a third country, enterable through 65 designated ports across 24 provinces.

Who qualifies for 240-hour transit?

The 55 eligible countries include the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, the UK, all 40 European nations listed above (plus Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Czech Republic, Serbia, Ukraine), Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia, UAE, and Qatar.

Key rule: You must be transiting to a third country — not simply round-tripping home. A traveler flying New York → Beijing → Bangkok qualifies. A traveler flying New York → Beijing → New York does not qualify unless the routing genuinely involves a third-country stop.

The clock starts at midnight after arrival and runs for exactly 240 hours (10 days). Overstaying carries strict penalties.
